NFL Free Agency Begins

By Chad Fox, Reporter

Midnight February 27th, 12:01 am, NFL free agency has begun. The craziest time for players without teams to find a new job with the most money or best city and surroundings to offer is here. This year’s free agent class includes Ray Lewis, Marvin Harrison, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Julius Peppers, and Brian Dawkins. With these high profile players available, many teams will have new faces leading them onto the field opening day.

The first big signing was Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, formerly of the Titans, who signed a 7 year deal with $100 million dollars. Even with the struggling economy, he was still able to snag a huge contract for himself. It seems that even though the economy is struggling world wide, sports teams and athletes are not seeing that bad of a pay cut, unless you are Manny Ramirez. It is expected that Ray Lewis will sign a huge contract with the Dallas Cowboys rather than give a hometown discount to the Baltimore Ravens, the team he has led for what seems like forever.

Overall, the next couple of weeks will be interesting to see where players decide to go and how much money teams are going to be willing to give up.
