Since August 2007, a few people each year have been mysteriously drowning in the Huadu’s Furong Reservoir in China. Everyone was curious as to why the bodies of these missing people couldn’t be found. Finally, the mystery was solved and a giant catfish was the one killing and eating these bodies! The three meter long catfish with one meter long head was caught after catching the son of the government official recently.

After the Chinese caught this monster fish, they cut it open and found many dead bodies inside. Swimming is no longer allowed in the Reservoir to prevent this from happening ever again. Scientists believe that there are more catfish living there. Although scientist are not one hundred percent sure on the exact species, they are currently debating whether it is a whale shark or a giant catfish. But keep in mind it is very rare for it to be a whale shark which usually lives in salt water, so for it to adapt in freshwater would be very unusual.

Although this is a very ironic incident to occur, the Chinese didn’t want this to bring in tourist, so they said no to the news. They didn’t want it to affect the amount of tourist that visited although they allowed no news programs to present it many people took pictures on there phones of this giant man eating creature. Currently the Huandu government is saying the photos are false and claimed they have had no feed frenzy going on. The truth remains to be resolved, until then swim at your own risk.
