Coachella Draws Big Crowds

By Kelli Konicek, Features Editor

Coachella, for those of you not hep to the jive, is a concert of epic proportion. People like Paul McCartney, Leonard Cohen, Connor Oberst, Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Franz Ferdinand will be gracing the stage for thousands of pairs of eyes to see. With the roaring of the base and the screaming of drunken ladies, Coachella is a staple of concert-going magnificence. With the economy the way it is, many in the music industry were concerned about the level of attendance for Coachella- with tickets at a relatively expensive amount, officials were concerned that people would prefer to stuff their wallets than spend it on musical euphoria. But such turned out not to be the case; as M.I.A preformed her hit “paper planes,” the New York Times reports that “tens of thousands” of people brought out their cell phones to wave like beautiful, luminescent kelp. Of course, this kelp is probably quite intoxicated and undoubtedly excited about seeing their favorite artists live.

As the days of Coachella commence, it is certain that more excitement and fun will be sure to follow in the footsteps of what fun has already transpired.
