When leaving the country, many individuals are aware that certain items can be seized, due to the increase of security. Israel authorities are taking security to the next level. A new regulation that Israel passed last week gives them the authority to confiscate the new I pads. Passengers will have to surrender these $500 devises with an uncertainty that they will be returned.
Israeli officials have expressed concerns that the new devises broadcast at higher power levels, which could interfere with their wireless connections. They have made it public that they aren’t against people buying technology form other places. The ban hasn’t been put into effect to deprive trade between two countries. Their efforts are simply to take precautions to prevent chaos from occurring within the country. The ban has been placed to prevent anyone, including tourists, from taking I Pads into Israel.
Owners of the confiscated I Pads have been informed that their I Pad will be held in storage for a fee, or can be shipped back to the U.S. at their expense. Officials’ plan that the problem will be resolved as Apple makes an international release of the devise. Originally, the I Pad was expected to launch at an earlier date however, an unexpected demand has delayed the international release. The official international launch is set to take place on May 10.
As new technology becomes more advanced and available to the general public, many may question to what degree can it help or harm.
